WELCOME TO COB COTTAGE

The original gatehouse to Martnaham nature reserve

A traditional white painted cottage recently refurbished to
the highest standards with south facing luxury hot tub
and dining area with views to the hills beyond.

Cob Cottage lies at the entrance to Martnaham nature reserve – a two mile long loch – a stretch of water which is a haven for swans and wildfowl – fringed on one shore by one of the last remaining oak woods in south west Scotland.

Cob Cottage once greeted visiting carriages from Culzean Castle, home of the Marquess of Ailsa who enjoyed bringing picnic parties to this far flung corner of his estate.

The current owners, whose family have lived on the site for over 100 years, created the comfortable retreat you find today.

Recently renovated with new furnishings, antiques and art with top quality beds and mod cons, including a sound system for a romantic sound track to your Scottish escape.  The cottage with its own securely enclosed outside space, including decking and hot tub, faces south to catch the sun with panoramic views to the hills beyond. The well insulated cottage also benefits from oil fired central heating and a cosy wood burning stove.  The cottage is close to local shops and other facilities being just off the B742 near the village of Coylton.

Cob cottage is dog friendly. The garden is fenced in and has plenty of space for your furry four-legged friend.

ACCOMMODATION AT COB COTTAGE

Cob Cottage can serve as a romantic hideaway for two or a place
for up to four friends or a family to get away together.

The recent highly quality renovation provides a double bedroom with its adjacent Jacuzzi bathroom and WC and a twin bedroom with adjacent shower room and WC.

The beds are of the highest quality with freshly laundered bed linen and soft towels as well as Sea Kelp hand soap, shower and bath wash from The Scottish Fine Soap Company. There is also a hair dryer. A cot and high chair are available if required.

The single story cottage consists of a kitchen dining room, which gives out onto the south facing decking and hot tub where there is also an outdoors dining table and chairs with barbecue for al fresco eating. The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, glasses, pots, pans, electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric kettle, table mats and tea towels.

The cosy sitting room with tongue and groove paneling and a wood burning stove has comfortable furnishings and TV and music system.

The hot tub

The south facing decking and hot tub allows you time to ‘just be’. Experience those magic moments together whether for a friend’s reunion, a special family holiday or a romantic getaway. Slip into our soft spa robes and luxuriate in the warm soothing waters.

Dogs

Please note that the cottage sits adjacent to a B road and the owners take no responsibility should a dog escape from the garden. Please ensure your dogs are on the lead at all times and that you lift any dog mess and put it in the green bin. Dogs are not permitted on the furniture or in bedrooms or bathrooms or to be left alone on the property. Popular nearby walks include Ayr Beach and Auchincruive estate.

Seating Area

Guests at Cob Cottage can not only enjoy the views from the garden and Hot Tub area but can also enjoy views across the loch from a small Seating Area which can be found on the left hand side of the drive with a fallen log viewing area.

*Please note that guests are not permitted to drive or walk further down the drive to Martnaham Lodge as this is a private residence and only for guests who are staying at Swan Bothy.
